“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
God the Father sent His Son Jesus into the world to redeem you (regardless of who you are) from your sins. God so loved you that He sent Jesus to die for your sins so that you might not perish. This word perish does not mean the total destruction of the soul and body after death, because the Bible speaks of an endless future punishment for all unrepentant sinners. To perish, then, is to suffer the eternal consequences of your sins; but you can be delivered from these consequences by the blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus came into the world to suffer and die as an atoning sacrifice for your sins. He suffered the punishment that you deserve, so that you might not perish. Because God loves you (but hates your sins), He is giving you a chance to receive Jesus as your Savior. If you reject God’s offer of mercy, don’t have to wait until Judgment Day to be condemned, for you stand already condemned in His sight (v. 18). Be wise and ask Jesus to be your Savior now. You can have everlasting life now!
