God’s Highway Of Holiness

“And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it.” – Isaiah 35:8a

(All Scriptures are from the King James Bible)

We have to seriously consider what the Bible says about holiness and uncleanness.

Who are the unclean? Those who gratify the unholy desires of the flesh; who want what the world offers instead of what God offers. It doesn’t matter if they profess to be a Christian. If they gratify the unholy desires of the flesh, they “mind (love) the things of the flesh.” True Christians mind (love) the things of the Spirit. They are traveling on God’s Highway of Holiness.

“For they that are after the flesh do mind (love) the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.” – Romans 8:5

Professing Christians, who love the things of the world, are in reality spiritual adulterers and adulteresses, and enemies of God.

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” – James 4:4

The apostle Paul said, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20

He also said, “And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.” – Galatians 5:24

God has an alternative to unholy desires:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” – Galatians 5:22-23

Against such there is no law: There is nothing that can condemn us if we are filled with God’s Spirit and bear spiritual fruit. A Spirit filled heart and life will put us on God’s Highway of Holiness.

If you are a professing Christian who gratifies the unholy desires of the flesh, consider what you are doing. Ask Jesus to forgive you and help you live a holy life. Remember, the unclean are not able to walk on God’s Highway of Holiness.

If you are not a Christian but want to be one, just say, “Jesus, be merciful to me, a sinner. Please come into my heart and forgive my sins and help me live a holy life.” He will help you if you really want Him to. He will forgive your past sinful life and His Spirit will fill your heart with something better than unholy desires. You can be filled with love, joy, peace, etc., through the power of God’s Spirit. God can help you now!
