How God Created Mankind

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” – Genesis 1:26-27

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” – Genesis 2:7

The Bible reveals the fact that God, Who is a Spirit (John 4:24), created the first man (Adam) and woman (Eve). The words “us” and “our” in the above Scriptures speak of the plurality of Persons in the Divine Being. God created man with a physical body from the dust of the earth but man’s intellectual and spiritual make-up was created in the moral image and likeness of God, which image and likeness can be described as “righteousness and true holiness” (Ephesians 4:24). These moral and spiritual qualities were “breathed” into man and he became a living soul, without any inclination toward evil whatsoever. Man was created spiritually, morally and physically perfect.

Now, the Bible says that “God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5). The word “light” is descriptive of the goodness and holiness of God, while “darkness” pertains to whatever is evil. It is important to note that the Bible also says that God is love (1 John 4:8, 16), and it can safely be said that God created the first man and woman so that He might share His love with them and that they might love Him as well.

“And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof (in the place where He took the rib); And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” – Genesis 2:21-24

God created the woman from the man and both were to be equals in life. She too was created in the image of God — in righteousness and true holiness. The Bible says that God blessed the man and the woman. God instituted marriage as a union between them and their matrimonial bond would make it possible to fulfill God’s command to populate the earth and to rule over it. “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” – Genesis 1:28

Only God, through Jesus Christ and through the Holy Spirit, can breathe new life into your soul. You need not wait any longer, for God can do it now!
