“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” – Genesis 1:1
“The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.” – Proverbs 3:19
Note on Genesis 1:1: “The original word (for God), Eloim, is certainly the plural form of El, or Eloah, and has long been supposed, by the most eminently learned and pious men, to imply a plurality of Persons in the Divine nature. As this plurality appears in so many parts of the Sacred Writings (the Bible) to be confined to three Persons, hence the doctrine of the TRINITY, which has formed a part of the creed of all those who have been deemed sound in the (Christian) faith from the earliest ages of Christianity.” – Adam Clarke’s Commentary of the Bible.
The Bible tells us that GOD created the heaven(s) and the earth, and everything that pertains to them in only six days (Genesis 1:1-2:1). All these things came into existence through the almighty power of God. For example, Genesis 1:3 says: “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”
In the Gospel of John, chapter one, verses one and three, we read: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . . All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” The “Word” spoken of here is Jesus Christ in his pre-incarnate existence (before He was made flesh, John 1:14), and that all things were made by Him. The Bible also tells us in Colossians 1:16-17: “For by him (the Word, later called Jesus Christ) were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist (are held together).”
Another Scripture, Colossians 2:9, says: “For in him (Jesus Christ) dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. This Scripture reveals the Deity of Jesus Christ — that nothing less than the Divine Nature of GOD is in Jesus. So we see that the Word, later called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Savior, etc., created all things; and He not only created them but He holds together His creation by His almighty power. The Holy Spirit, Who also is a separate and distinct Member of the Divine nature of God, was also involved in the creation process, for Genesis 1:2 says: “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” (“was brooding over” – Clarke’s Commentary) the face of the waters.
Now God is still creating, even today. The Bible says: “If any man (or woman) be in Christ, he (she) is a new creature (creation): old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Jesus Christ suffered and died for your sins. Your sins can be forgiven through the blood of Jesus Christ and you can become a new creation through God, Who holds everything together by His almighty power.
